CHICKS is a registered children’s charity which takes disadvantaged children aged 8-15 who would not otherwise have a holiday on free respite breaks. The holidays are designed to give children a chance to be children and to get them involved in a whole number of activities that they may not otherwise have the opportunity to try.
With the growth of the charity they are looking to form new contacts nationally, but especially in areas where awareness about CHICKS and the service they provide is not so great.
Children are referred to them by a number of professional organizations such as social services, schools, youth groups, family support teams and numerous charities. It is important that children are referred by a professional person who is able to take responsibility for completing paperwork and arranging transport etc. Children are referred for a break because of a whole number of reasons and situations; from being young carers, to those who are living in poverty, subject to abuse, neglect, emotional trauma and many other reasons.
Holidays are run from March until November at their two fantastic centres in the West Country.
Please see the leaflet and if you would like some further information about CHICKS and how to refer a child, please do look at their website www.chicks.org.uk. If you might be interested in sending a child on holiday or if you have any questions please contact:.
