It's Volunteers Week!

Here at Ashfield Voluntary Action we depend on our wonderful and diverse team of volunteers who are involved in a wide range of activities. We honestly could not do the work we do in the community without their support. Our volunteers are involved in all sorts of different projects including:

  • Fundraising
  • IT support
  • Woodworking
  • Gardening
  • Telephone befriending
  • Walk buddies
  • Running groups including the craft and music groups and the gardening club
  • Our allotment
  • Collecting shopping and prescriptions for vulnerable people
  • Admin support
  • Support during the census
  • Making twiddle mitts for people living with Dementia
  • Befriending
  • Volunteer Receptionist
  • Covid marshalls
  • Supporting AVA by volunteering as a trustee.

We currently have over 50 wonderful volunteers who help us to support people and organisations throughout Ashfield. Our Manager, Teresa Jackson, said, "we are fortunate to work with a truly awsome team of volunteers. Their dedication is humbling and they tirelessly give of their time and talent. Our volunteers are from 21 to 93 and have a wide range of interests, experience and skills. They provide excellent support to our staff and mean that although we are a relatively small charity, we can do a lot of work throughout the District and make a big difference to people's lives. Our volunteers really are priceless and I would like to take the opportunity to thank them for their fantastic support".
