As well as providing a wide range of services and activities in the community, Ashfield Voluntary Action also runs a food kiosk in the Health and Wellbeing Centre, providing sandwiches, snacks, jacket potatoes, soup, and drinks to staff, patients and visitors to the Centre.
AVA had an unannouced visit to the kiosk and food preparation area at the Health and Wellbeing Centre from the Food Standards Agency (the independent government department working to protect public health and consumer's wider interests in relation to England, Wales and Northern Ireland). We are delighted to announce that we were awarded five stars (the maximum award) in relation to hygiene and the way our food is prepared.
The kiosk delivers an invaluable service to the Centre and its users, but also provides work-based opportunities for our wonderful team of volunteers.
Jenni Bishop, kiosk supervisor said, "...we are thrilled to have obtained a five star rating for the food kiosk. Thank you to all our staff and volunteers for the hard work that has led to us gaining this magic number."
Next time you're at the Centre please drop by our kiosk for a delicious range of freshly brewed coffee, hot chocolate, water, canned drinks, sandwiches, jacket potatoes, soup and our fantastic range of hand-made cakes made by one of our lovely volunteers. The kiosk is open from Monday to Friday from 10.00am to 2.00pm for an affordable range of of snacks, light meals and treats, all delivered with a friendly smile.
If you are interested in learning more about our kiosk, or would like to volunteer, please contact Samantha Clarke, or Jenni Bishop on 01623 555 551.
