As part of its commitment to support community and voluntary sector groups in our area, Ashfield Voluntary Action has been working in partnership with the Coalfields Regeneration Trust to ensure that local groups are fully aware of funding opportunities and available support.
The funding workshop was opened by Teresa Jackson, Manager of Ashfield Voluntary Action, who introduced Steve Abson, Development Manager from the Coalfields Regeneration Trust who gave an interesting and informative presentation on the Coalfields Community Investment Programme which provides grants of up to £10,000 in former coalfield areas in England.
Steve's presentation focussed on new strategic objectives and gave a really useful overview of organisations and activities which would be eligible for funding. This was followed by an invaluable insight into the application process, as Steve talked groups through ways in which they could improve their chance of being successful when applying for funding. The session was really well-attended with 24 people in attendance who took every opportunity to ask questions and join in lively conversation.
Steve then talked about the practical help available through the Coalfields Regeneration Trust and explained that membership of the Trust (which is free) gives groups access to a wide range of resources and support including access to funding guides, comprehensive area specific statistical data and advice and support.
