Nottinghamshire’s Trading Standards Service will be running their final electric mattress blanket safety testing event for Nottinghamshire residents on:
Monday 2nd December - Sutton in Ashfield Library
The testing is free and if a blanket fails, the resident will be provided with a new blanket free of charge. As the Trading Standards Service have limited funding for this event, a pre-booked appointment is essential. To book a slot at the event, Nottinghamshire residents can call 0115 8044555.
With the cold weather upon us and high energy costs, many people are looking for cheaper ways to keep warm and, electric mattress blankets are a popular method used to stay cosy.
To save money, consumers will be looking for the availability of cheap versions of these products or use old electric blankets. These products may not meet current safety standards or may be damaged through poor storage or age. And, in the past few years, there have been incidents within Nottinghamshire where unsafe electric blankets have been the cause of serious fires and deaths.
Nottinghamshire Trading Standards Service is again, trying to spread the message about this safety testing event as far as possible in the County.
