The Big Conversation about Social Care
In Nottinghamshire, lots of people need support to live their best life. Social care is personal, emotional, and practical support for people who need it. It works alongside health care.
Nottinghamshire County Council know's that everyone’s social care experience is different, and the system can feel complicated. They want every person in the county to live in the place they call home with the people and things that they love, in communities where they look out for one another, doing the things that matter to them. This vision for Adult Social Care has been developed by a national movement called Social Care Future.
In 2023, they held a Big Conversation working with an independent organisation and the Our Voice co-production group. They spoke to over 500 people in Nottinghamshire.
What people told Nottinghamshire County Council helped shape the 2024 Local Account, the Adult Social Care strategy, that sets out what’s working, what needs to change and what they’re focussing on next. In February 2025, they produced a Local Account Progress Report [PDF] that showed progress made so far and the impact this had on people’s lives.
Now they’re building on that work and want to know how they’re doing and what they need to do next. They want to make sure more people have a chance to be heard, especially those didn’t hear from before.
HOW YOU CAN TAKE PART
SURVEY
Tell them about your experience of adult social care by completing a survey. There are two surveys, one for people who draw on services and one for family carers. The surveys are open until the end of September 2025.

EVENTS
Join a Big Conversation and book onto an event near you. These are safe, welcoming spaces where you can share your thoughts, ideas and experiences. Come along and tell us what matters to you. In our area the events are as follows:
