The Next Generation Wood Shop has been reclaiming wooden pallets and turning them into a range of bespoke products to grace your garden and home since 2017. We make benches, planters, bird tables and a wide-range of other products to order; all of which can be made to your exact specification.
Our products are made out of reclaimed pallets which are made of kiln dried pine. Items can be stripped, painted or treated to meet your requirements. By using reclaimed pallets we are doing our bit to support the environment by using materials that may otherwise go to landfill.
Next Generation also provides work experience and volunteering opportunities. We support our service users to develop transferable skills and build up their confidence, knowledge and practical experience. Some of our service users are long-term unemployed, or may have challenges which could otherwise act as a barrier to training and employment.
Next Generation operates out of a fully equipped, purpose fitted workshop based at Stanton Hill. They also construct items on site for special commissions. Most recently, this included the construction of raised beds, trellises and a pergola at Ashfield Voluntary Action's allotment in Kirkby-in-Ashfield and garden benches at the Health & Wellbeing Centre.
Next Generation also runs a small, confidential waste collection and shredding scheme for small businesses that do not generate enough confidential waste for commercial shredders to collect individually. The income generated from product sales, services and commissioned items means that the workshop self-funds. Consequently, we are able to provide activity sessions for our service users at low-cost.
