Ashfield Voluntary Action offers a wide range of groups and activities to adults who want to get the most out of life.
AVA runs a number of groups and activities which aim to provide an enjoyable social experience for like-minded people. As well as providing the opportunity for people with similar interests to get together, our groups also offer peer support for groups with a shared experience, or outlook. The groups and activities are free to attend unless stated otherwise.
Our groups and activities also help to build people's confidence and reduce feelings of isolation in a warm and welcoming environment.
Our most popular groups include:
Talking Tuesdays - the group meets from 1.30 - 3.30 on a Tuesday. Everyone welcome for a cuppa, chat, games, activities and puzzles in a welcoming environment.
Our Chatty Crafters group on a Wednesday morning, welcoming crafting enthusiasts of all ages to share their knowledge, learn something new and make new friends at the same time. Click HERE to find out when the sessions are held.
Our Gardening Club - AVA is very fortunate to have its own private and accessible garden - perfect for those of us with green fingers and an interest in gardening. The garden provides a calm and relaxing space and is a safe haven for our resident squirrel, Cyril, a pair of robins and any other wildlife we can attract to this lovely space. When the weather is not very 'gardening friendly' the group can take refuge in the garden room, have a cuppa and a chat, make use of our extensive collection of gardening books and magazines, watch gardening video clips and share knowledge. In the winter months the group runs as a chat and games group. Click HERE to find out more about our garden.
The LGBT+ Group - every Monday afternoon the LGBT+ groups meets and is currently planning our very own mini Pride event. Click HERE to find out more about the group, what it does and why it was set up.
