How we support local groups.

Ashfield Voluntary Action (AVA) was established in 2001 to help community minded local people to do the best for their area.

How this support works day-to-day

AVA provides a wide-range of advice and practical support to help groups provide invaluable services for local people.

The four ways we help.

AVA works alongside local groups and services, supporting partnership work, building relationships and helping groups to work together to provide the best possible local service.

How we work to support local groups

Ashfield Voluntary Action is an infrastructure support organisation. What this means is that we are a charity set up to support other groups and acitivities in our area; making sure that people living in Ashfield can access the best support and services available.

How this support works day-to-day

We do this by helping groups to set up, run, promote themselves, recruit and keep volunteers, secure funding and make sure that the way they run is safe for everyone.

This is really important as the groups we work with want to focus on what they do well; whether that is run a knit and natter group, a mother and toddler group, a food club or group befriending people who would otherwise feel isolated and alone.

The four ways we help

Ashfield Voluntary Action provides help in four ways:

  1. We provide hands on support to groups running activities and services in Ashfield.
  2. We run activities and services ourselves to benefit local people.
  3. We put together information on what's happening locally so that people can easily find out what is being offered in their area.
  4. We have strong local links so can help groups work together to the benefit of all.
