Ageing Well

In recent years, there has been a focus on ways to help people to age well. Providing the right support at the right time can make a big difference to our health and wellbeing as we get older. Taking positive steps may allow us to live independently for longer, stay well for longer, and have a better quality of life.

There are five ways we can help ourselves by looking after our physical and mental wellbeing and work towards ageing well:

  1. Keep moving - regular exercise helps to keep our heart healthy, strengthen our bones and keep our muscle.
  2. Eat well - try to have balanced diet rich in fruits, vegetables, and whole grains, while limiting processed foods, sugar, and unhealthy fats. This will support overall health and help to prevent disease.
  3. Socialise - taking part in social activities can improve our mental health and reduce feelings of isolation and loneliness.
  4. Keep our brain active.
  5. Look after our mental well-being.
