How to Get Involved
Ashfield Voluntary Action aims to be an inclusive organisation. This means that we want everyone to have the opportunity to join in. Quite a lot of people first come to us through our services, they join our sessions, make friends and look to become part of our friendly team.
We have mentioned volunteering, but did you know that AVA helps all sorts of people to enjoy volunteering opportunities and this is at the heart of what we do. You might not think that volunteeering is for you, but we can offer extra support so everyone can do their bit for the community. What this might mean:
Volunteering From Home
#Additional Needs
- VOLUNTEERING FROM HOME - some people would love to volunteer and feel that they have something to offer, but struggle to get out of their home. Perhaps they have mobility issues, or are caring for a loved one which means that being away from home doesn't fit in with their committments. This doesn't mean that they can't volunteer. Why not get in touch with our Volunteer Co-ordinator, Ellen Clay, and see what is on offer. We are always looking for knitters, telephone befrienders and people who can help with research. AVA knits twiddle mitts to support people living with dementia and those on the autistic spectrum. We also sell tiny character teddies to raise money for our work. Providing telephone support for people who might otherwise be lonely and isolated is a vital lifelife and has established strong and rewarding friendships.
