Support for the LGBT+ Community

In response to local interest, Ashfield Voluntary Action has been looking at the support provided to people from the LGBT+ community and working to identify any gaps in the provision of services.

This began with a listening event held in September 2021, which highlighted that people from the LGBT+ community often felt isolated and that they were keen for more social activities to be available in their local area.

The listening event was followed by the development and circulation of a survey to gain more detailed insight. From this, Ashfield Voluntary Action developed an LGBT+ Facebook page and held a run of weekly meetings in a local pub to start the ball rolling on possible future activities.
