Support for the LGBT+ Community

In response to local interest, Ashfield Voluntary Action has been looking at the support provided to people from the LGBT+ community and working to identify any gaps in the provision of services.

This began with a listening event held in September 2021, which highlighted that people from the LGBT+ community often felt isolated and that they were keen for more social actitivities to be available in their local area.

The listening event was followed by the development and circulation of a survey to gain more detailed insight. From this, Ashfield Voluntary Action developed of an LBGBT+ Facebook page and held a run of weekly meetings to start the ball rolling on possible future activities.

On the run-up to Christmas, we are also holding weekly meet-ups at the Cricketers Arms on Nuncargate in Kirkby-in-Ashfield. These friendly and welcoming meet-ups start at 6.00 pm and we would be delighted to see you. If you would like to know more please ring Samantha Clarke at AVA on 01623 555 551 or EMAIL
