Volunteering for everyone

Our main section on volunteering provides detailed information on volunteering. This includes volunteer profiles, local opportunities, and the kind of volunteering experiences on offer. Please click HERE to visit this section of the website.

However, we would like to give information on how we support volunteers with additional needs. AVA has a genuine and passionate commitment to offering volunteering experiences for everyone, by providing an inclusive and welcoming environment. When people express an interest in volunteering, we begin with a friendly chat and informal interview. As part of this, we have a discussion about any addiitonal needs that the volunteer may have. If we feel that the volunteer needs a more supportive environment, we usually invite them to volunteer with us as we have a solid track record of supporting people who may need an additional tier of support.

For many years we have provided volunteering opportunities for people with additonal needs including:

  • Learning disabilities
  • physical disabilities and long-term health conditions
  • people on the autistic spectrum
  • those with a brain inury
  • people living with dementia.
