Becoming a Trustee

As a trustee, you will:

  • Make sure that Ashfield Voluntary Action is working in line with its charitable aims and governing documents - and of course following charity law requirements.
  • Keep up-to-date on our work, provide advice and guidance, and support the management and administration of AVA.
  • Work with long-standing and talented Trustees to understand your role.
  • Have opportunities to develop new skills and bring your voice to the discussion.
  • Have an induction, training, and reimbursable expenses.

The expected time commitment is a minimum of a monthly two-hour board meeting which takes place either remotely, or in our office in the Ashfield Health and Wellbeing Centre on a Wednesday afternoon. As well as preparing for the board meetings, trustees may be called upon for specific advice and support in their areas of expertise or to support the potential formation of sub-committees.

For a more in-depth look into the role of a trustee, see this document produced by the Charity Commision.

We need to ensure that we have the best people to guide the Charity forward in these challenging, but exciting times...

So if you have the skills, experience, and knowledge to help us, would like to learn more about our organisation, or to request a trustee application pack, please contact our CEO, Una Key on 01623 555 551 or email u.key@ashfieldvoluntaryaction.org.uk.
